How we work

MFHI provides basic health care that address the various, highly specific barriers that migrant and seasonal farmworkers face. It is essential that these barriers are taken into account, as care that does not address them is ineffective. Specifically, we provide:

  1. Zero Cost Basic Medical Care, including services such as:

    a. Wellness Checkups

    b. General Health Screenings

    c. Health Risk Assessment

    d. Diabetes Screening

  2. Medical Interpretation

  3. Culturally Appropriate Medical Care

MFHI will never ask patients’ legal status, and will tirelessly work to ensure that migrants are never put in legal jeopardy by receiving services.

“We understand that seasonal and migrant workers in Northeast Indiana face many barriers that impact their ability to both access healthcare and to live healthy lives.  A lack of health insurance, language barriers, and inconsistent care in combination with inadequate housing, poverty, and dangerous work environments has led to increased rates of disease and disability in this population.  The Migrant Farmworkers Health Initiative is devoted to bringing high quality, culturally appropriate care to those who need it most, and I am proud to be a part of an initiative that is dedicated to promoting health and equity in Northeast Indiana.”
